The event took place at a time when the twocountries are celebrating the 55th founding anniversary of diplomatic relationsand 40 years of the signing of the Vietnam-Laos Treaty on Amity andCooperation.
The two sides discussed regional andinternational issues of mutual concern and exchanged views on plots and activitiesof hostile forces and crimes that affect national security in each country, aswell as the security and order situation along the Vietnam-Laos border.
They also looked into the outcomes ofcooperation between the Vietnamese and Lao security forces, and theimplementation of cooperation agreements reached at the previous conference.
Participants proposed measures to improve theefficiency of coordination between the security forces of Vietnam and Laos inthe coming time, especially in exchanging and evaluating information, combatingactivities of hostile forces, and managing the border and entrance-exitactivities and training personnel.
While in Laos, the Vietnamese delegation paid acourtesy call on Lao Minister of Security Somkeo Silavong, who spoke highly ofthe outcomes of cooperation between the Vietnamese and Lao security forces overthe past time and hoped the two sides will continue close coordination toprotect national security, social order and safety in any circumstances.
The Lao minister also urged the security forces tostrengthen coordination to ensure absolute security for activities within the Vietnam-LaosSolidarity and Friendship Year 2017 and other important political events.-VNA
