Vietnam holds ASEAN CERT Incident Drill

– The Vietnam Computer Emergency Response Team(VNCERT) organised the 2017 ASEAN Computer Emergency Response Team IncidentDrill (ACID) in Hanoi on September 11.

The drill drew the participation of 15 computer emergency response teams fromSoutheast Asian nations, Australia, India, Japan and the Republic of Korea.

Theywere updated with the latest cyber security trends, along with seeking todetect cyber attackers and set up solutions to the incidents.
 
Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Thanh Hung affirmedthat the event aims to maintain communication channels among the countries aswell as enhance competence in dealing with real situation, particularly skillsin implementing investigation and analysis of malicious codes.

VNCERT deputy director Nguyen Trong Lich said that in Vietnam, the drill wasdeployed in three cities, including Hanoi, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City underthe VNCERT’s coordination.

There were groups and corporations providing telecommunications, information,and technology and information security services like VNCERT experts, BKAV,Viettel, VNPT, CMC Infosec and VNPT Technology.

By September 8, 2017, the VNCERT detected 1,762 phishing sites, 4,595 infectedwebsites that had spread malware on the Internet and 3,607 websites attackedfor defacement.

Regarding the attack of WannaCry virus, one of the largest-ever cyber-attacksaffecting computers across the globe, the centre issued warnings as well asoffered protection measures to all users to guard against the ransomware andits variations.

VNCERT is a member of the Asia Pacific Computer Emergency Response Team(APCERT). It has been developing with 124 units and 500 technicians. The centredetected millions of IP addresses which were infected and controlled by hostcomputers outside Vietnam. It also found over 18,000 infected websites that hadspread malware on the Internet, including 88 state agency websites.
