Hanoi (VNA) – A ceremony was held at the Noi Bai international airport inHanoi on December 9 to hand over four sets of remains believed to be of USservicemen who went missing in action during the war.
The remainswere discovered during the 125th joint field activity between Vietnam and theUS, conducted between October and December this year.
The remainswill be sent to Hawaii for further examination.
This is the139th transfer of American servicemen’s remains since 1973.
Speaking atthe ceremony, a US Government official hailed the humanitarian policy, goodwilland cooperation of the Vietnamese Government and people in searching for USservicemen missing in action during the war.
Searchingfor the remains of US servicemen in Vietnam is part of humanitarian cooperationbetween the Vietnamese and US Governments.
Thetwo-decade war in Vietnam claimed the lives of 58,000 Americans and at leastthree million Vietnamese. -VNA
