The June 24 ceremony was attended byrepresentatives from the Board of Directors of Vietnam Office forSeeking Missing Personnel (VNOSMP), and representatives from the USConsulate General in Ho Chi Minh City, the US Defense Attache Office,the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) and the US MIA Office inHanoi.
Three boxes of remains from the 119th Joint Field Activities from May to June, 2015 were handed over to the US side.
The remains were jointly reviewed and concluded by Vietnam and USforensic specialists that they might be associated with the USservicemen missing during the war in Vietnam and were recommended tobring to Hawaii, the United States, for further review.
Addressingat the Repatriation Ceremony, the US Government representativeexpressed deep gratitude and appreciation for the steadfast humanitarianpolicy, goodwill and the increasingly efficient cooperation of theVietnamese Government and people.
The seeking of the remains ofUS servicemen missing during the war in Vietnam is humanitariancooperation between the Vietnamese Government and the US Government.
This is the 135th hand-over of American missing servicemen’s remains since 1973.-VNA
