The country has expanded international cooperation with theInternational Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), as well as Japan, Russia,the US and Hungary in atomic energy, nuclear safety and security.
In September 2012, Vietnam’s Presidentapproved the supplementary protocol of the Treaty on theNon-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) and necessary documents tojoin IAEA’s Convention on Physical Protection of Nuclear Material.
The ministry has coordinated with relevant ministries and sectors aswell as its partners from Russia, Japan, France and the US tospeed up human resource training in the field in service of thecountry’s future nuclear power plants, and the construction of theVietnam-Russia Nuclear Science and Technology Centre.
In the coming time, the ministry will intensify communicationcampaigns to enhance public awareness of nuclear power used for peacefulpurposes, as well as the application of atomic energy for nationalsocio-economic development.-VNA
