Hanoi (VNA) – Nearly 60 enterprises were honoured at the Vietnam Digital Transformation Awards 2020, which took place on October 18.
As an annual event hosted by the Vietnam Digital Communications Association (VDCA) with the sponsor of the Ministry of Information and Communications, the award honours organisations and individuals who have made valuable contributions to the national digital transformation and economic development.
Digital transformation is a trend
Addressing the event, former Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Minh Hong highlighted the significance of the event, especially when the National Digital Transformation Programme to 2025 with a vision to 2030 has just been approved by the Prime Minister.
Hong, who is also VDCA Chairman and head of the organising board, emphasised that the trend of digital transformation and development of digital government and economy is taking place strongly in Vietnam.
The award looks to successfully realise the Politburo’s Resolution No 52 on policies and measures for active participation in the fourth Industrial Revolution and the National Digital Transformation Programme, as well as other policies of the Party and State on digital transformation, towards developing Vietnam into a digital country with digital economy, digital government and an advanced digital society in the region and in the world.
Hong said he believes that the award will continue discovering and honouring Vietnam's typical digital technology services, products and solutions, especially Made-in-Vietnam technological products, thus promoting those to domestic and international markets.
It will also encourage State agencies and enterprises operating all fields to invest and apply digital technology for successful digital transformation, he added.
Nearly 60 enterprises honoured
The award, the third of its kind held in Vietnam, received 232 entries during the four months since its launch.
Entries in the outstanding digital services and solutions category are mostly in social media, mobile apps, e-commerce, e-payment, digital marketing, e-Government and smart urban development, and cyber-security and safety.
Meanwhile, companies with excellent digital transformation operations are in finance, banking, insurance, education and training, health care, social welfare, trade, transportation, post, construction, and real estate.
State-owned enterprises that switched to a management environment based on digital platforms and units providing digital solutions in remote, mountainous, and disadvantaged areas were also honoured.
The organisation board chosen to award 40 best digital technology products and solutions from 27 tech companies and 31 State-owned enterprises operating in the field.
In the category “State agencies with excellent digital transformation”, the prizes are awarded to seven units with strong digital transformation process from traditional models to technology-based management and working models.
They included the Centre for Information Technology and Digital Technology and the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy under the Ministry of Industry and Trade; the Department of Information Technology of the Ministry of Health; the northern centre for supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), the Bidding Management Department under the Ministry of Planning and Investment, the Da Nang Department of Information and Communications, the Thua Thien Hue information technology centre.
In addition, 22 businesses operating in finance, banking and insurance were honoured in the "Excellent digital transformation enterprise" category, including the Vietnam Export Import Commercial Joint Stock Bank, the Insurance Joint Stock Corporation under the Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Industry and Trade (Viettinbank), the Southeast Asia Joint Stock Commercial Bank (SeABank) and the Post and Telecommunication Insurance Joint Stock Corporation.
In the field of education and training, the Thanh Phat Educational Technology JSC was honoured.
Meanwhile, two units were awarded in the field of health and social security, namely the Central Paediatrics Hospital and the Quang Ninh Obstetrics and Paediatrics Hospital.
The Viettel Post Joint Stock Corporation (VTP) won the prize in the field of transport, post and logistics.
The event also honoured two units in the category of narrowing the digital gap, and 40 solutions from 27 enterprises in the category of typical digital solutions, products and services./.
