HCM City (VNA) – Police of Vietnam and Chinawill conduct a joint special operation to combat human trafficking along theshared border from July 1 to September 30, heard a conference on June 27.
The conference was co-held in Ho Chi Minh City by theVietnamese Ministry of Public Security’s Criminal Police Department and theChinese Ministry of Public Security’s Criminal Investigation Department.
According to reports delivered at the event, humantraffickers have taken advantage of good ties between Vietnam and China and thetwo nations’ open policies as well as their personal relations along the sharedborder to carry out crimes. Vietnamese authorities have discovered about 400cases of human trafficking every year, and in most of the cases, people havebeen sold to China.
It is anticipated that cross-border human traffickingfrom Vietnam to China will increase in the time ahead, especially through illegalmarriages, forced labour, women trafficking and children kidnapping.
Police of the two nations discussed the contents of theirjoint operation and agreed to maintain a close coordination to fight humantrafficking in each country.-VNA
