HCM City (VNA) – The sixth session of the Vietnam-China Land Border Joint Committee was held from January 17-21 in Ho Chi Minh City.
The Vietnamese delegation to the event was led by Nguyen Anh Dung, Vice Chairman of the National Border Committee under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, while the Chinese side was headed by Counselor Wang Wenli of the Foreign Ministry’s Department of Boundary and Ocean Affairs.
In an atmosphere of friendship, sincerity and frankness, the two sides reviewed the committee’s implemented works as well as achievements in 2015. They appreciated the smooth cooperation mechanism and tight coordination between the two countries’ border managing agencies in addressing boundary issues, thus facilitating stability and development in the shared border areas.
They adopted the committee’s working plan for 2016 and achieved consensus on organising a bilateral conference to review the five-year implementation of legal documents on Vietnam-China land border.
The Vietnam-China Land Border Joint Committee was set up in 2009 to manage the border, land markers, and border gates in accordance with relevant provisions of the Protocol on Border Demarcation. The Agreement on Border Management Regulations and the Agreement on Border Gates and Border Gate Management Regulations were signed by the two governments’ representatives in November 2009.-VNA
