Vietnam-China friendship association holds Congress

The Vietnam – China Friendship Association in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho held its Congress for the 2018 – 2023 tenure on May 11.
Can Tho (VNA) – The Vietnam – China FriendshipAssociation in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho held its Congress for the 2018– 2023 tenure on May 11.

During 2013-2017, the association actively, flexibly,creatively and effectively worked on external relations, contributing tofostering friendship between Can Tho and Chinese localities.

It held exchanges with Chinese working delegations,organised seminars on developing multi-sectoral cooperation, promoted tourismand launched a number of economic and cultural projects.

Via meetings with Vietnamese and Chinese patrioticpersonalities and the Vietnam – China people’s forum, both peoples have chancesto raise mutual understanding, thereby contributing to peace, stability,friendship and development.

Speaking at the event, Vice Chairman of the municipalPeople’s Committee Truong Quang Hoai Nam said Vietnam – China ties have grownactively over the past years with regular meetings and common consensus onstrengthening political trust.

He expressed his wish that the association will activelywork with the municipal departments and agencies to call for Chineseinvestment, urge the Chinese Consulate General to support exchange activitiesand increase the association’s membership.

Participants agreed to continue improving its workingcapacity and external activities while raising public awareness of the Partyand State policies and expanding networking.

This year, the association will disseminate the progress ofVietnam – China ties, propose twinning between schools in Can Tho and China,organise tours to promote trade and tourism.

On the occasion, the Congress elected an eight-memberexecutive board for the 2018-2023 tenure.

Ngo Quoc Tuan, General Director of the A Chau Trade JSC, wasre-elected as Chairman of the association for the new tenure.-VNA
