Vietnam, China agree to forge stronger security cooperation

Vietnam and China have agreed to continue fostering cooperation in ensuring security and order, making it an important pillar of the bilateral comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership.

Beijing (VNA) – Vietnamand Chinahave agreed to continue fostering cooperation in ensuring security and order,making it an important pillar of the bilateral comprehensive strategiccooperative partnership.

The agreement was reached duringtalks in Beijingon January 13 between Vietnamese Minister of Public Security Senior LieutenantGeneral To Lam and Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) CentralCommittee’s Political and Legal Affairs Commission Meng Jianzhu, Minister ofPublic Security Guo Shengkun and Deputy Minister of Public Security andInterpol President Meng Hongwei. The talks took place within the framework ofthe ongoing visit to Chinaby Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

The Chinese officials welcomedthe visit of the Vietnamese high-ranking delegation led by Party GeneralSecretary Nguyen Phu Trong, describing it as an important milestone in thetraditional friendship and comprehensive strategic cooperative partnershipbetween the two countries, including cooperation among law enforcementagencies.

Both sides expressed pleasure atthe growing bilateral relations in all fields, especially the effective cooperationbetween Vietnam’s Public SecurityMinistry and law enforcement bodies of China.

The outcomes of the talks betweenthe two Party chiefs and the two Party delegations are major orientations forthe two Ministries of Public Security to deploy cooperation activities in thefuture, they said.

In the field of ensuring securityand order, the two sides has maintained contact channels to share informationabout the fight against terrorism, while actively coordinating with each otherto combat crimes, especially those related to high technology, drug, humantrafficking, fake money smuggling and hunting wanted criminals.

The two sides have also workedclosely together in ensuring security and safety for agencies, businesses and theircitizens residing in the other country, and building a shared border of peace,friendship and sustainable development.

The two sides concurred tofurther promote security cooperation by increasing the exchange of delegationsat all levels, training personnel and sharing experience in various fields suchas preventing and combating terrorism, high technology and trans-nationalcrimes, thus ensuring the legitimate rights and interests of their citizensresiding in the other country.

They agreed to work closely togetherto ensure security and safety for their high-ranking delegations during visitsto the other country as well as major political and social events, while enhancingcoordination in fighting high technology crimes, drug and human trafficking aswell as illegal exit and entrance activities within both bilateral andmultilateral cooperation frameworks.

The two sides will also continueto launch crackdowns on all kind of crimes, while strengthening ties in personneltraining to improve law enforcement capacity of officials, and promoting theexisting cooperation mechanisms among professional units and public securityforces in localities.

Sen. Lieut. Gen. To Lam affirmedthat the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security pays much attention to cooperativeties with law enforcement forces of China in ensuring security andorder.

He also congratulated the Party,State and people of Chinaon their great achievements in all fields, to which law enforcement agencieshave made important contributions.-VNA
