Hanoi (VNA) - A Cambodian delegation from theNational Centre for PeacekeepingForces, Mine and Explosive Remnants of War Clearance led by its Director General Sem Sovanny had a workingsession with representatives from the Vietnam Department of Peacekeeping Operations (VDPO) in Hanoi on October 1.
During the function, Director ofthe VDPO Major General Hoang Kim Phung affirmed that UN peacekeeping is one ofkey cooperation fields in the defence relations between the two countries.
Since Vietnam joined UN peacekeeping activities, Cambodia has always shown itsgoodwill, actively supported and shared experience to help Vietnam build andimprove the ability of its UN peacekeeping forces, especially the sappers, Phungsaid.
Forhis part, Sem Sovanny expressed his hope that the two sides will continue toenhance experience sharing in the fields of strength of Cambodia such asdeploying military police team and maintaining the rate of female soldiers inpeacekeeping forces.
Phung said he wishes the two sides will expand cooperation activities in thefield, including exchange of soldiers attending intensive training courses onpeacekeeping organized by Vietnam, Cambodia or a third country; and bilateraland multilateral cooperation and experience sharing on peacekeeping operationsin UN peacekeeping missions./.
