Vietnam, Cambodia agree to speed up signing of border trade agreement

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and his Cambodian counterpart Samdech Techo Hun Sen agreed to conduct measures to accelerate the signing of a Vietnam – Cambodia border trade agreement.
Hanoi (VNA) – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phucand his Cambodian counterpart Samdech Techo Hun Sen agreed to conduct measuresto accelerate the signing of a Vietnam – Cambodia border trade agreement.

The consensus was reached at their bilateral meeting inBali, Indonesia on October 12, on the fringes of the ASEAN Leaders’ Gathering(ALG) and the annual meeting of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and theWorld Bank (WB).

The government leaders consented to boost cooperationbetween the two nations, particularly in economy and trade. PM Hun Sen said hisgovernment will continue offering incentives for Vietnamese investors.

PM Phuc thanked his Cambodian counterpart for his attendanceat the State funeral for President Tran Dai Quang, saying it reflects close friendshipbetween the two nations.

He took the occasion to congratulate the new Cambodian royalgovernment for its stable operation since it was established a month ago,adding he believes that the Cambodian people will obtain more significantachievements, thus increasing the country’s position in the region and theworld.

At the meeting, PM Phuc thanked his counterpart’s closeassistance toward creating favourable conditions for Vietnamese-Cambodians tosecure legal status and integrate into the local society.

Concerning the relocation of Vietnamese-Cambodians’ floatinghouses in Kampong Chhnang province’s Tonle Sap area, PM Hun Sen has directedthe governor of the province to ensure suitable duration for the process, andin the long term, arrange a resettlement area for the community with necessary infrastructurelike schools, hospitals and power and water facilities.-VNA
