Vietnam, Brunei leaders agree to foster cooperation

Manila (VNA)– Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Brunei Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah agreed tofurther enhance bilateral partnership in trade, industry, agriculture andtourism at their meeting on April 29.

During the meeting held on the sidelines of the 30th ASEANSummit in Manila, the capital of the Philippines, the two leaders expressedtheir delight at the progress of the traditional relations and multifacetedcooperation between Vietnam and Brunei.

They agreed to continue exchanges of high-level delegations and worktogether to improve operation of the Vietnam-Brunei Joint Commission forBilateral Cooperation, the two countries’ joint naval working group and otherbilateral cooperation mechanisms.

PM Phuc hoped Brunei will promote investment in Vietnam, particularly inthe fields of infrastructure development, energy, food processing for export, andoil and gas exploitation.

He also asked Bruinei to offer favourable conditions to Vietnameseinvestors to do business in oil and gas services, halal food and farmingproducts in Brunei.

The 30th ASEANSummit, under the theme “Partnering for Change, Engaging the World”, isexpected to see the presence of leaders of the 10 ASEAN member countries. It isthe first summit in 2017 under the Philippines’s ASEAN chairmanship.-VNA
