Manila, (VNA) - PrimeMinister Nguyen Xuan Phuc had a meeting with Myanmar state counsellor andForeign Minister Aung San Suu Kyi on April 28 on the occasion of 30th ASEAN Summit in Manila, the Philippines.
Suu Kyi said she was inspired by Vietnam’sachievements in building and developing the country.
The two leaders agreed that Vietnam andMyanmar should continue negotiations toward the signing of cooperation agreementsin trade, investment, transport, finance, justice, education, telecoms andparticularly agriculture and national defence.
The Myanmar side pledged to createall favourable conditions for Vietnam’s investment and trade activities in thecountry.
The two sides committed to increasingcoordination to promote ASEAN’s central role, stressing that unity andsolidarity within the bloc are the prerequisite for a strong ASEAN Community.
They shared the view that disputesshould be addressed through peaceful means based on international law andcalled for an early finalisation of a Code of Conduct for the East Sea.-VNA
