Hanoi (VNA) – The Australian government is willing to cooperate and share experience with Vietnam in seeking effective measures to adapt to the fourth Industrial Revolution (Industry 4.0), said an Australian official.
Yvonne Chan, Australian Deputy Consul General to Ho Chi Minh City and Senior Trade Commissioner of the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade), was speaking at a seminar on Vietnam-Australia cooperationin information and communication technology (ICT) training in Hanoi on May 16.
The event, co-held by Austrade and the Vietnamese Ministry of Information and Communications, created a forum for universities, research organisations andcompanies of Vietnam and Australia to exchange training experience and seekcollaboration opportunities.
She expressed her belief that with the presence of leading IT experts from bothcountries, the seminar would see numerous IT development initiatives andsolutions proposed and many partnerships formed between Vietnamese andAustralian organisations.
Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Phan Tam said the VietnameseParty and State define ICT as an important part of infrastructure and aneffective tool to create a new development mode and a momentum for boosting theknowledge-based economy and improving the national competitiveness in theinternational economic integration.
At present, Vietnam has 250 universities and colleges, plus 164 vocationaltraining schools providing ICT training, with about 86,000 students.
However, the ICT human resources training quality needs to be improved quicklyamid the fourth Industrial Revolution. Vietnam’s relevant agencies are activelyseeking measures to raise training quality in the field in order to create anew generation of workers with good knowledge and skills that can adapt tochanges in the digital economic era, he said.
He expressed his wish that participating experts would clarify great challengesVietnam is facing in ICT human resources development amidst the impacts ofIndustry 4.0.
At the seminar, participants discussed the impacts of Industry 4.0 on ICT humanresources development in Vietnam, ICT training demands, priorities andchallenges of Vietnam, and innovative solutions to human resources qualityimprovement in the digital era in Vietnam.-VNA
