New Delhi (VNA) – The Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Departmentand various Vietnamese travel firms are participating in the InternationalTravel and Tourism Trade Show (SATTE 2018) that opened in India’s capital ofNew Delhi on January 31.
Running through February 2, the event is South Asia’s leading tourismfair and aims to allow tourism businesses, airlines and hotels to meet and seekpartnerships.
Vietnam’s booth introduced tourist destinations in Ho Chi Minh City and Vietnam.
On the sidelines of SATTE 2018, Director of Ho Chi Minh City’s TourismDepartment Bui Ta Hoang Vu met with Joint Secretary of India’s Ministry ofTourism Suman Billa.
Vu briefed his host on the city’s tourism development policies, notingthat the city is focusing on improving its services to meet the demands ofIndian tourists.
He expressed hope that tourism management agencies of the two countriesas well as Ho Chi Minh City and New Delhi will create optimal conditions forpeople of both sides to travel to each other’s country.
Vu revealed that Vietnam is working to soon open a direct air routeconnecting Ho Chi Minh City and New Delhi. He also invited Indian travel firmsto attend the international tourism fair to be held in Ho Chi Minh City.
For his part, Billa noted that Vietnam and India have enjoyed sound ties,expressing hope that more Vietnamese people will visit India. He stressed theneed for a direct air route between the two countries, which he believes thatwill make significant contributions to increasing the number of touriststravelling between Vietnam and India.
Ho Chi Minh City welcomed about 50,000 Indian tourists in 2017.-VNA
