Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai paid an official visit to Angola from August 5-7, the last leg of his Africa tour, which also took him to Mozambique and South Africa.

During his stay in Angola, Deputy PM Hai held talks with Angolan Minister of State and Head of Civil Affairs Edeltrudes da Costa on August 5.

The host said the Deputy PM’s visit is of special significance as it helps boost cooperation between Vietnam and Angola, especially at a time when the two countries are going to celebrate the 40 th anniversary of diplomatic ties (November 12).

The officials informed each other on their respective countries’ situation and noted with pleasure the fruitful developments in the traditional friendship, which, they said, have been expanded in various fields.

Deputy PM Hai spoke highly of the socio-economic achievements Angola has recorded in recent years and congratulated the country on becoming a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for the 2015-2016 tenure.

Host and guest highly valued the developments in political ties between the two countries since the establishment of diplomatic ties. They agreed on the need for the two countries to further their cooperation and increase their coordination at international forums and organisations.

It is necessary to prepare thoroughly for the seventh meeting of the Inter-Governmental Committee scheduled to take place in Luanda this year and celebrations of the 40 th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties, they said.

They consented to beef up collaboration in areas of the two countries’ strength. The Angolan side welcomes Vietnamese investment in all fields, particularly in agriculture, aquaculture, fisheries, food processing and construction.

The two sides agreed to work for the early signing of an agreement on investment encouragement and protection.

The Angolan side took the occasion to call on Vietnam to support the country in food security, especially in training agriculture experts in rice and coffee farming.

Angola also suggested the two countries soon negotiate the signing of an agreement in industry and pledged to create all possible conditions for Vietnamese businesses to invest in this field.

Deputy PM Hai proposed Sonangol Group of Angola and the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group to soon set up a joint venture to explore and exploit oil and gas in Vietnam, Angola and third countries.

During their talks the two sides also discussed other regional and international of mutual concern.

While in Angola, Deputy PM Hai had meetings with Angolan Vice President Manuel Domingos Vicente, Foreign Minister Georges Rebelo Chicoti, Minister of Agriculture Afonso Pedro Canga and Minister of Industry Bernarda Goncalves da Silva.
