Vietnam Airlines' new A350-900 wide-body craft. (Source: airbus.com)Customers of the national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines can now enjoy high-end services when flying from Hanoi to Seoul, after the airline rolled out its new A350-900 aircraft for the route on October 15.
As relations between Vietnam and the Republic of Korea (RoK) grow, Vietnam Airlines has seen stellar performances in this East Asian market, said Cao Anh Son, head of the Vietnam Airlines representative office in Seoul.
He said the carrier was now operating 60 flights a week to the RoK from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. This has facilitated air travel between the two nations, while showing the airline’s prestige compared with other international carriers.
This is the second international flight route on which Vietnam Airlines has used its A350-900 aircraft – the most modern wide-body craft in the Airbus family. It started using the new Airbus on its Hanoi-Paris route earlier this month.
Vietnam Airlines is the world’s second airline to fly 350-900 XWBs and the first in the Asia-Pacific to use both Boeing 787-9s and Airbus A350-900s. It will replace old aircrafts with 19 Boeing 787s and 14 Airbus A350s that are scheduled for delivery between 2015 and 2019.
This year the carrier will fly Boeing 787-9s on routes connecting Hanoi with Ho Chi Minh City, and Hanoi/Ho Chi Minh City with London and Frankfurt. It will also operate Airbus A350-900s on flights from Hanoi to Paris and Seoul.-VNA
