Ho Chi Minh City (VNA) – President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan spoke highly of Ho Chi Minh City’s organisation of the general election while inspecting several polling stations in the city on May 22.
Nhan, who is also Vice Chairman of the National Election Council, asked constituencies to continue providing all possible support for voters and fulfill assigned tasks during the day.
In an interview granted to the media following the inspection, Nhan said Ho Chi Minh City is one of the few localities that initiated disseminating candidates’ profiles and action programmes to the public.
He believed that the city’s rate of voting will be high, contributing to the common success of the nation during the election.
In the same day’s morning, Nhan paid a courtesy call to Archbishop of the Ho Chi Minh City Archdiocese Paulo Bui Van Doc, who is also Chairman of the Episcopal Council of the Catholic Church of Vietnam.
Nhan thanked the Catholic community for providing care for pre-school kids and the poor as well as involving in environment protection.
Doc also took the occasion to inform the VFF leader about the Catholics’ recent activities.-VNA
