The waxed coconut, a specialty fruit of Tra Vinh province, was first planted in Cau Ke District 100 years ago.
Though it looks like a regular coconut on the outside, it is notable for its thick, soft, fatty, and chewy flesh.
During the festival, the National Office of Intellectual Property, part of the Ministry of Science and Technology, awarded the “Tra Vinh” geographical indication registration certificate for the waxed coconut.
The festival of Tra Vinh’s waxed coconut also provides a platform for the province to highlight its potential and advantages, aiming to attract investment in trade, connectivity, agricultural processing, and tourism./.
