Up to 70 percent of the 1,300 hotel rooms in Tam Dao in northern VinhPhuc province have been booked by international and domestic tourists,although there is still nearly one week to go before the five-daynational holiday from April 27 to May 1.
This is good news forthe Vinh Phuc tourism industry as it had been concerned that theeconomic crisis and rise in the price of petrol would have an effect ontourist numbers.
Tran Van Quang, Director of the province’sCulture, Sports and Tourism Department, said that some travel agenciesin the locality have worked with hotels, restaurants and airlines tooffer reasonable prices to tourists, along with promotion programmes tohelp attract more visitors.
Last month, the province organised a culture-tourism week to promote its images and tourism potential, Quang added.
Tam Dao’s 77 hotels can cater for 2,700 guests per night.
In the first quarter of 2013, 750,300 tourists (13,200 foreigners and737,100 domestic tourists) visited Vinh Phuc province, helping generate280 billion VND for its tourism industry.
Tam Dao, a range ofmountains located in three north-eastern provinces of Vinh Phuc, ThaiNguyen and Tuyen Quang, is famous for its beautiful natural scenery,mild climate, diverse flora and fauna, and various cultural-historicalsites.
The name “Tam Dao”, meaning “three islands”, describesthe natural beauty of the area’s three mountains that appear as a trioof islands in a sea of cloud.
In addition to some well-knowntourist destinations including Tay Thien Temple, Tam Dao National Parkand Dai Lai Lake, visitors can now discover the forests or visit XaHuong Lake and Bear Rescue Centre in the region.-VNA
