Thua Thien – Hue (VNA) – Authoritiesof the central province of Thua Thien-Hue suggested increasing flight frequencyon the direct air service between the province’s Hue city and Bangkok,Thailand, at a meeting with Jetstar airline and travel agencies on March 17.
Representatives from travel agencies supportedthe proposal, agreeing that in the immediate future the frequency should beincreased to two flights a week instead of the current two flights a month,which they said will help fully exploit the tourism potential of Hue, a worldcultural heritage site.
Jetstar reported that the flights between Hue –Bangkok have an average occupancy of 70 percent.
However, the route has not attracted touristswho go on short tour due to low frequency, according to a Jetstar representative,who added that it is essential to increase frequency of flights to maintain theroute.
Increasing frequency of Hue-Bangkok directflights is important, and should be done this summer, said a representative of aThai tourism agency.
Representative of travel agencies asked theprovince to decide flight timing and ticket price while the Phu Bai airport wasasked to offer incentives to promoting travel tours in long-term.
The provincial People’s Committee assigned relevantagencies and departments to create favourable conditions for frequent flights.
The province also pledged to launch supportpolicies for travel agencies and firms to promote their tours to attract moretourists on the Hue – Bangkok regular route. -VNA
