Thua Thien-Hue (VNA) – The centralprovince of Thua Thien-Hue has decided to spend 325 billion VND (nearly 14million USD) to carry out a project on development smart urban services to2020, with a vision to 2025.
The project aims to streamline urban management,offer convenient and quick public services, and improve the environment.
The province envisions that it will reach the samestandards of health care, education and tourism services as those available in smartcities in the region and the world by 2025.
According to Chairman of the province’s People’sCommittee Phan Ngoc Tho, Thua Thien-Hue has defined 15 priority tasks on buildingnecessary technical and social infrastructure for a smart city, attractinginvestment in developing smart city and encouraging residents to approach smarturban services.
The Chairman said the provision of smart urbanservices is based on the foundation of e-government. Thua Thien-Hue is one ofthe leading localities in the country in terms of administrative reform andbuilding e-government.
At present, the province’s public service portalhas provided 1,349 public services at level 2, 530 services at level 3 and 404services at level 4. A number of agencies have provided all their services atlevel 3 and 4, including the Department of Education and Training, theDepartment of Science and Technology, the Department of Planning andInvestment, the Department of Health and the Department of Information andCommunication.
Thua Thien-Hue has put into operation theprovincial public administrative centre and centres for nine districts, townsand Hue City. Its administrative portal has inegrated administrative offices atprovincial, district and communal levels, enabling the system to process nearly400 administrative procedures on line.
In the time ahead, the provincial People’sCommittee will push forward the application of information technology and theintegration of all software used by local agencies and public offices, while continuingto build the local e-government structure in line with the province’s ITapplication and development blueprint to 2020.-VNA
