Bangkok (VNA) – Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-O-Cha, said on April 12 that heplans to end the ban on political party gatherings ahead of next year’selections.
This was thefirst time Prayut had confirmed civilian parties will be able to meet in therun-up to elections.
Theofficial did not unveil any poll dates or state when the restrictions will belifted.
He toldreporters that the election process will begin in 2018, adding that a cremationceremony for late King Bhumibol Aduyadej must be held, most likely in lateOctober this year.
The Thaijunta banned political parties from meeting after seizing power in 2014.-VNA
