Thailand: Royal coronation drone show; barges for public viewing

The government of Thailand is inviting the general public to witness the drone show during the royal coronation ceremonies with 230 drones flying over Sanam Luang, as well as the elaborate beauty of the royal barge Suphannahong at Ratchaworadit Pier.
Bangkok (NNT/VNA) - The government of Thailand is inviting the generalpublic to witness the drone show during the royal coronation ceremonies with230 drones flying over Sanam Luang, as well as the elaborate beauty of theroyal barge Suphannahong at Ratchaworadit Pier.

The Royal Thai Navy’s Civil Affairs Department Chief Rear Admiral, ThaneeKaewkao has revealed the outcome of the latest joint command centre meeting onthe royal coronation ceremonies, saying that the Royal Thai Navy will allow thegeneral public to see the elaborate royal barge Suphannahong on May 4-6, 2019as part of the royal coronation ceremonies according to ancient tradition, atRatchaworadit Pier on the grass field next to Rajakij Winitchai Pavilion inBangkok from 12 p.m. til 8 p.m., and from 12 p.m. til 7:30 p.m. on May 5.Members of the public are asked to dress in polite attire.

The Radio Control Airplane Modelers’ Sports Association President PisitMitkuakun has revealed there will be a drone performance on May 6 with two setsof drones, one consisting of 167 large drones forming the shapes of Thailand,and the Thai flag, as well as celebratory messages, the royal cypher, and aportrait of His Majesty the King, followed by the message Long Live the King;while another set of drones will include 68 smaller drones forming the shapesof the Thai flag, an elephant, and a golden shower flower. The two drone showswill take eight minutes, and will be performed over Sanam Luang in Bangkok at 7p.m. with a live broadcast by the Television Pool of Thailand.

The drones used are the innovations of Thai people with the cooperation of theRadio Controled Airplane Modelers’ Sports Association and PTT Exploration andthe Production company. The association has been perfecting the controllingsoftware for precision and the spectacle of the shows. – NNT/VNA

Indonesia begins major oil, gas exploration in Sulawesi
