Student designs winning logo for Vietnam-Belgium ties

Nguyen Thu Quynh, a fourth-year student in the graphic design department of Hanoi-based University of Industrial Fine Arts, has won the design contest for a logo to celebrate 45 years of Vietnam-Belgium diplomatic relations.

HCM City (VNA) - Nguyen Thu Quynh,a fourth-year student in the graphic design department of Hanoi-basedUniversity of Industrial Fine Arts, has won the design contest for a logo tocelebrate 45 years of Vietnam-Belgium diplomatic relations.

The design represents the typicalVietnamese conical hat in the three colours of the Belgian flag, while the eyesrepresent the two peoples of the countries and the two silk ribbons inspirefreedom, peace, inspiration and luck.

The left cord signifies Belgium and theright cord Vietnam.

The ribbons are twisted to form the number45, showing the close bond between the two countries, and durable diplomacy andsteadiness.

The contest was organised within theframework of cooperation between the Belgian Embassy and the University ofIndustrial Fine Arts.

The winner was selected through a publicvote on Facebook and by a jury composed of the Belgian Ambassador,representatives of Ministry of Foreign Affairs and professionals. 

The winning design will serve as theofficial logotype for all celebrations linked to the anniversary in 2018.

The winner will be offered a two-weekinternship at the Belgian-founded creative PR agency, Happiness Saigon, in HCMCity.

Friendship and cooperation between Belgiumand Vietnam have developed over the last 44 years since the two countriesestablished diplomatic relations in 1973.-VNA

The Mekong Delta province of Bac Lieu on October 21 signed a cooperation agreement with Uiseong county, Gyeongsangbuk-do province of the Republic of Korea (RoK) on sending local labourers to the RoK to work seasonally under the form of locality-to-locality collaboration between the two countries in the 2023 - 2027 period.

Tien Giang strives to reduce poverty rate to 0.87% this year
