Hanoi (VNA) - Party Committees at alllevels, local administrations and social organisations must make strong effortsto fight African swine fever, said a directive issued on May 20 by the PartyCentral Committee’s Secretariat.
To cope with the disease which has hit 34provinces and cities and caused big losses for pig farmers, the Party CentralCommittee’s Secretariat called for stronger measures to control the outbreak.
The fight against African swine fever must be akey and urgent task for the Government and related ministries, said thedirective.
The ministries and local administrations mustcontrol the outbreak in the shortest time to ensure sustainable socio-economicdevelopment and improve people's lives.
Party members and people should be provided withinformation on the danger of the disease to prevent outbreaks and protect pigproduction and distribution, while avoiding confusion in society, the directivesaid.
The agricultural sector should prepare measuresto restore pig breeding when the outbreak is fully controlled, as well as setup plans to raise other animals and fishery production.
People’s Committees of provinces and cities mustensure financial and human resources to fight African swine fever and otherdiseases.
Appeals for financial contribution and technicalassistance from organisations and individuals from both domestic and abroadmust be launched to help farmers affected by the outbreak.
So far, 1.5 million infected pigs have beenculled since the African swine fever entered the country in February thisyear.-VNA
