Ninh Binh (VNA) – The People’s Committee of Nho Quandistrict of northern Ninh Binh province on May 3 announced that it has beenfree of African swine fever (ASF), becoming the second district of Ninh Binh toget rid of the virus.
With the announcement, transporting and trading activitiesof pork and pork products will be resumed as normal.
The last ASF-infected farm was detected at a household in VanPhong commune of Nho Quan on April 1. All the 23 pigs of the farm were then culled.Three animal quarantine posts were set up in major roads of the commune tocontrol pork transporting activities.
Meanwhile, the district authorities directed Van Phongcommune to guide local households to apply measures to detoxify their farms andsupervise the epidemic’s development for timely response.
The provincial Department of Agriculture and RuralDevelopment provided local households with 3,000 litres of chemicals for farmcleaning, along with equipment for the epidemic prevention and control.Households with culled pigs also received financial support.
As many as seven out of the eight districts of Ninh Binhsuffered from the ASF.-VNA
