In many rural areas, people mostly use unqualified water for daily use, which has caused several effects to health. In recent time, solar-powered water supply has become an effective measure to help people in rural areas access fresh water at a low cost while protecting the environment.
In recent years, people in Tu Mai hamlet, Tu Mai commune, Yen Dung district, Bac Giang province have bought fresh water from the local solar-powered water supply factory for US 0.1 cent for a 20 litre bottle. The price is only one sixth of market’s price.
Initial investment for a similar system costs nearly 14,000 USD, depending on scale and capacity, helping meet fresh water demand for people in rural areas.
Since its official operation in 2015, more than 5,000 people have accessed fresh water at a low cost, contributing to increasing locals’ awareness ofrenewable energy and cutting electricity costs in the locality.
People are familiar with water filter factories operating from the national grid, however shifting to renewable energy has become a global trend to cope with climate change.-VNA
