Dak Lak (VNA) – Social investment inthe Tay Nguyen Central Highlands has increased in recent years thanks to theimprovement of the business environment.

According to the regional Steering Committee, totalsocial investment in the region reached 267.6 trillion VND (11.77 billion USD)in 2011-2015 from 40 trillion VND (1.76 billion USD) in 2001-2005.

The proportion of non-State capital poured intothe region rose from 38.37 percent in 2006 to nearly 70 percent in 2015, withGia Lai the most attractive destination.

Central Highland provinces focused investment ondeveloping the transport system and building irrigation facilities in Dak Lak,Gia Lai and Lam Dong.

In 2016, total gross regional domestic product exceeded151 trillion VND (6.64 billion USD), a year-on-year rise of 7.47 percent, andper capita GRDP was estimated at 39.56 million VND (1,740 USD), up 8.57percent.

The Central Highlands comprises Dak Lak, GiaLai, Kon Tum, Dak Nong, and Lam Dong provinces, with total population of about5.64 million people and 47 ethnic groups.-VNA
