Dak Lak (VNA) – Abnormal weatherhas resulted in increases in infectious diseases, especially dengue fever,diarrhoea and hand-foot-mouth disease in the Central Highlands province of Dak Laksince the beginning of May.
According to the local Preventive MedicineCentre, the province has recorded more than 20 dengue cases each week, making atotal of nearly 600 since the beginning of 2017.
During January-May, the number ofhand-foot-mouth cases posted a three-fold rise against the same period lastyear to 410, while more than 3,000 locals contracted diarrhoea.
The patients mainly reside in Buon Ma Thuotcity and Buon Don, Krong Bong and Krong Nang districts.
The local health sector has worked toprevent contagious diseases by intensifying vaccination, spraying mosquitorepellent and encouraging people to keep the environment clean.
It also advised locals to carry out measuresto avoid hand-foot-mouth disease in children, including keeping floors and toysclean, eating cooked food and washing hands with soap.-VNA
