The threat of terrorism to Singapore stands at the highest level in recent years, the Ministry of Home Affairs said in its Singapore Terrorism Threat Assessment Report 2017 released on June 1.

 Hanoi (VNA) – The threat of terrorismto Singapore stands at the highest level in recent years, the Ministry of HomeAffairs said in its Singapore Terrorism Threat Assessment Report 2017 releasedon June 1.

The report noted that security agencies remainon high alert, although there is no credible intelligence of an imminentattack.

Singapore is a target of the Islamic State (IS)group for its role in international coalitions against terrorism, said thereport.

In 2016, IS plotted to carry out two attacksagainst Singapore that were prevented by local authorities.

According to the report, so far two Singaporeanshave left for Syria to join the conflict while about 14 Singaporean citizenshave been radicalised by IS since 2015. -VNA
