HCM City (VNA) – More than 1,200regional and local experts and businesses discussed ways to exploit thepotential of the internet of thing (IoT) market in Vietnam at a seminar in HoChi Minh City on October 24.
Participants presented their opinions on anumber of topics, including cyber security, IoT use in smart city building andIoT and the production revolution.
Speaking at the seminar, Head of theCommunist Party of Vietnam Cemtral Committee’s Economic Commission Nguyen VanBinh stressed the need for the correct approach in policy-making on IoTdevelopment.
On the national side, IoT technology has toboost production, accelerate digitisation and build a smart society, he added.
He recommended the country design andimplement its national development plan for digital economy, as well as issuepolicies to upgrade production sectors, particularly manufacturing industry,via IT application, among others.
Binh noted information and cyber securityare key to IoT growth.
Minister of Information and CommunicationsNguyen Manh Hung informed the seminar on Vietnam’s strategy for IoT connectionplatform by 2020, which aims for an average household to have a cableconnection, an average citizen to have a smartphone and 5G network to cover alarge area.
He said Vietnam’s good telecommunicationsystem is an advantage in IoT development and that the country needs acyber-security industry.
Mai Thanh Truong, deputy head of VNPTTechnology’s IoT research and development centre, said based on its SmartConnected Platform, VNPT Technology has operated solutions for smart citybuilding in various fields.
VNPT Technology is a member of the VietnamPosts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT), which are among giant Vietnamesetelecoms service providers with largest numbers of broadband subscribers in thecountry.
On the sidelines of the seminar, aninternational IoT exhibition took place, featuring 40 stalls run by ICTcompanies such as ABB, LG Electronics, Dell EMC, Vietttel, MobiFone andBKAV.-VNA
