Second Eurasian Women’s Forum opens in Russia

The second Eurasian Women’s Forum kicked off in Saint Petersburg of Russia on September 19, featuring various activities with the aim of promoting unity among women from all over the world.

- The second Eurasian Women’sForum kicked off  in Saint Petersburg ofRussia on September 19, featuring various activities with the aim of promoting  unity among  women from all over the world.

Russian Federation Council Chairperson V.I Matviyenko attendedthe opening ceremony of exhibition ““Made in Russia: export by women” on the same day.

Themed “Women for Global Security andSustainable Development”, the event attracted about 2,000 delegatesfrom more than 100 countries over the world.

Russian President Vladimir Putin will deliver a speech at the plenary sessionof the forum on September 20.

The Vietnamese delegation, led by Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh, willattend the session and other sideline activities.

Notably, Vice President Thinh will deliver an important speech at the plenarysession of inter-parliamentary dialogue themed “Women for stable development ofthe globe”.

Besides, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Women’s Union Nguyen Thi Thu Ha and Head ofthe NationalAssembly Committee for Social Affairs Nguyen Thuy Anh will attendand give speeches in several thematic meetings in the framework of the forum.

During her stay, Vice President Thinh will also have bilateral meetings with
Matviyenko, heads of delegations from other countries attending theforum, and leading officials of Saint Petersburg.

Participants at this year’s forum are women parliamentarians, representativesof the executive, international organizations, commercial communities,business, academia, social and charitable organisations, authorities of theinternational women’s movement, and ambassadors of different countries, among others.

The first edition of this kind was also held in Saint Petersburg in 2015. TheVietnamese delegation led by NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan attended theevent. -VNA

Indonesia begins major oil, gas exploration in Sulawesi
