Russia-Vietnam Friendship Association helps boost bilateral ties

The Russia-Vietnam Friendship Association has made significant contributions to the two countries’ traditional friendship, solidarity and cooperation since its foundation 60 years ago, a Vietnamese diplomat has said.

Moscow (VNA) – The Russia-Vietnam Friendship Association has madesignificant contributions to the two countries’ traditional friendship,solidarity and cooperation since its foundation 60 years ago, a Vietnamesediplomat has said.

Thestatement was made by Nguyen Quynh Mai, Counsellor and Chargé d’affaires at theVietnamese Embassy in Russia, at the association’s congress to review itsfive-year operation in Moscow on November 22.

Deliveringa report reviewing the association’s operations, its President Vladimir Buianovrecalled the association’s development process with a number of specific andpractical activities held to help Russians understand more about the Vietnamesesituation as well as the necessity to continue nurturing and developing theircountry’s relations with Vietnam.

Theassociation has become a main partner of the Vietnam-Russia FriendshipAssociation, contributing to consolidating the two nations’ cooperation ineconomics, culture and education.

Ithas coordinated with the Vietnamese Embassy and social organisations inorganising numerous cultural, educational and charitable events, as well ascooperating closely with Russia’s Foreign Ministry, the Institute of FarEastern Studies under the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Institute of Asianand African Studies under the Lomonosov Moscow State University, and the MoscowState Institute of International Relations.

Theassociation has also published several books featuring Russians’ views aboutPresident Ho Chi Minh, the late leader’s political biography, the firstVietnamese in the Kremlin, and important milestones in the bilateralcooperation.

Theannual painting competition entitled “I draw Vietnam – I draw Russia” is one ofthe main activities held by the association, which has helped nurture thesentiments towards and awareness of the special bilateral relations at an earlyage, Buianov said.

Heaffirmed that his association always attaches importance to Russia’s relationswith Vietnam and exerts its efforts to nurture and develop the ties.

Atthe congress, association members reached a consensus on re-electing Buianov asthe association’s President for the 2018-2023 tenure.

Theassociation was presented the Friendship Order for its great contributions todeveloping friendship and cooperation between the two countries’ peoples.-VNA
