Attending the ceremony were representatives from theVietnamese Office for Seeking Missing Persons, US Consul General in Ho Chi MinhCity Mary Tarnowka, and delegates from the Vietnamese Defence Ministry and the USMIA Office in Hanoi.
The Vietnamese side handed over to the US side three sets ofremains found during the 130th joint search from February – April2018. Forensic experts have examined the remains and suggested sending them toHawaii for further verification.
Speaking at the event, a representative from the USgovernment spoke highly of Vietnam’s humanitarian policy as well as the fulland increasingly effective cooperation of the Vietnamese government and people.
It was the 143rd hand-over of remains of USservicemen missing in action since 1973.-VNA
