TayNinh (VNA) – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc visited Thanh Long farmin Chau Thanh district and Tanifood agricultural product processing plant in GoDau district in the southwestern province of Tay Ninh on August 21.

ThePM lauded the farm’s modern production model using technological advances and connectingwith farmers and cooperatives, allowing it to churn out quality organic sugar forconsumption at home and abroad.

Hesaid the State will pay further attention to the sugar sector and fightingsmuggling and trade fraud, especially in An Giang province.

ThePM pledged that the Government will offer all possible support to investors andprotect their rights, including sugar producing firms.

PMPhuc asked the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to consider thefarm’s model to learn from its experience in developing hi-tech agriculture.

Whilevisiting the Tanifood agricultural product processing plant invested byLavifood Company, the government leader lauded it as the first modernlarge-scale farm produce processing project in the country.

Builtin middle 2017 on a site of 15ha at the cost of 1.5 trillion VND (66 millionUSD), the plant will have a fresh vegetable and fruit processing assembly line usingthermal treatment technology.

Onceoperational in November 2018, it is expected to process 500 tonnes of materialsper day, including mangos, passion fruits, pineapples and dragon fruits.

PMPhuc expressed his hope that the project will help realise his message conveyedat the recently-held national conference on promoting agriculture investmentthat in the next decade, Vietnam’s agriculture sector will be among the top 15globally, with farm produce processing sector placing 10th.

Heasked provincial authorities to help farmers prepare materials to prevent a shortageof supply once the plant is put into operation, as well as ensure stablepurchasing prices for farmers.-VNA
