Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung hosted a reception in Ho Chi Minh City onApril 30 for Lao, Cambodian and Cuban officials who attended a ceremonycelebrating the 40th anniversary of the liberation of South Vietnamand National Reunification Day.
Theguests were Lao Vice President Bounnhang Volachit, Cambodian DeputyPrime Minister Men Som An, and Head of the External Relations Committeeof the Communist Party of Cuba, Jose Ramon Balaguer Cabrera.
PMDung told the officials that the historic victory on April 30, 1975 wassupported immeasurably by the support and assistance provided bysocialist countries, including China and the Soviet Union, as well asthe people of Laos and Cambodia, among others.
TheParty, State and people of Vietnam will always remember thatwholehearted support and assistance, he said, declaring that the countryhas prioritised bolstering the sound friendship and cooperation withLaos, Cambodia and Cuba.
The guests shared the view that thehistoric victory on April 30, 1975 was also shared by the people ofLaos, Cambodia and Cuba.
Laos Vice PresidentBounnhang Volachit expressed his profound gratitude towards Vietnam’sParty, State, army and people for their huge, sincere and efficientassistance to the Lao people, both then and now.
Cambodian DeputyPM Men Som An extended her thanks for Vietnam’s help in defeating thegenocidal Khmer Rouge, freeing the Cambodian people and helping thecountry become what it is today.
The Cubanofficial described the special solidarity between Cuba and Vietnam as aninvaluable asset that needs to be preserved and passed onto the nextgenerations.
Earlier on April 29, the LaoVice President was received by Vice State President Nguyen Thi Doan,while the Cambodian Deputy PM met with her counterpart Nguyen Xuan Phucand the Cuban official was hosted by Hoang Binh Quan, Head of theExternal Relations Commission of the Communist Party of Vietnam CentralCommittee.-VNA
