PM extends New Year greetings to Lao, Cambodian counterparts

Hanoi (VNA) – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on April 13 extended hisgreetings over the phone to Lao PM Thongloun Sisoulith and Cambodian PM SamdechTecho Hun Sen on the occasion of the two neighbouring countries’ traditionalNew Year festival.

Duringhis phone calls, PM Phuc also conveyed New Year wishes from General Secretaryof the Communist Party of Vietnam and President Nguyen Phu Trong, Chairwoman ofthe National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan and people of Vietnam to leaders ofthe parties, states, governments, parliaments and people of Laos and Cambodia.

He believedthat Lao and Cambodian people would continue to obtain greater achievements inthe new year.

The PMsof Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia expressed their determination to closelycooperate to maintain and foster the Vietnam-Laos and Vietnam-Cambodia friendshipand solidarity for the sake of prosperous development and bringing wealth andhappiness for people of the three nations.

The New Year festival, called Bunpimayin Laos and Chol Chnam Thmay in Cambodia, takes place in April every year,attracting tourists with displays of traditional culture, a festive atmosphere,and water splashing traditions to wash away bad luck and pray for a good newyear. –VNA
