(Photo: VNA)Vinh Long (VNA) – Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh has extendedbest wishes to Khmer TheravadaBuddhist dignitaries and followers in the Mekong Delta provinces of Vinh Long and Tra Vinh on the occasion of the Chol Chnam Thmay, the traditional New YearFestival of the Khmer people in the south.
During the visits on April 7, he spoke highly of the Khmer monks and followersfor their significant contributions to the local socio-economic development aswell as social security and order.
He called on all Khmer Buddhist followers to promote solidarity, strictlyimplement the Party’s policies and the Government’s regulations, while engagingin the national patriotic emulation, building new-style rural areas, andenhancing traditional culture.
Also, he asked local authorities to pay more attention to the Khmer householdsin the underprivileged areas, ensuring that they all have warm festival and noone is left behind.
Delivering greetings at the ethnic minority boarding school in Vinh Long, whichhouses Khmer students in Tam Binh, Vung Liem, Binh Minh and Tra On districts,and Tra Vinh University, Deputy PM Binhstressed the Party and Government always pay due attention to providing educationfor minority ethnic groups.
He took the occasion to request competent authorities to continue sound policiesfor ethnic people, and join hands to further support for the education andtraining for local ethnic people.-VNA
