Tokyo (VNA) – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc is attending the 23rdInternational Conference on the Future of Asia held in Tokyo, Japan, on June 5-6.

The International Conference on the Future of Asia is organised annually byNikkei – one of the biggest communication groups in Japan and the region.

Underthe theme “Globalism at a crossroads – Asia’s next move”, this year’s eventfocuses on discussions on trends and factors affecting the future of Asia,including protectionism and populism, relations among major nations and worldorder change, and development of ASEAN, China, and South Africa.

Delegates to the conference are expected to exchange views on measures Asiannations need to conduct to maintain peace and stability and ensure sustainabledevelopment in each nation and in the whole continent.

Inhis speech delivered at the opening ceremony on June 5 morning, PM Phuc saidreality showed globalisation is a trend, emphasising the key role of Asiaduring the process, while pointing out major challenges.

Heproposed three measures, including maintaining a peaceful and stableenvironment in the context of structural changes of the region, boosting green,sustainable and inclusive economic growth, and optimising resources andpromoting the active role of international institutions.

Visionwill decide modes of thinking, while methods of action and cooperation amongnations will help build a peaceful and prosperous Asia where dreams of every nation,big or small, developed or not, will be heard, Phuc stated.

Heshared achievements Vietnam has gained during the 30-year renewal, affirmingthe country’s determination to build an incorruptible Government thatwholeheartedly serves people and businesses.

Hetold participants that in the time ahead Vietnam will strive to createdevelopment opportunities through the strengthening of internationalintegration and participation in global management structures, create afavourable environment to bring into full play the role of the private sector,balance economic growth policies and effective management of resources andincrease the quality of human resources to meet requirements of the industrialrevolution 4.0.

ThePM also spoke highly of contributions made by Japan to socio-economicdevelopment and poverty reduction in many Asian countries, as well as to thecomprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Japan.

PMPhuc then dialogued with participants on several contents of the conference, includingthe role of the ASEAN Economic Community, environmental pollution challenges toVietnam and the country’s socio-economic development.

Hesaid that Vietnam had a sustainable development strategy, in whichenvironmental protection is a top priority.-VNA
