Party official sends best wishes to Laos’s former leaders

Vientiane (VNA) – Chief of the Party Central Committee’s Office Nguyen VanNen visited some former leaders of Laos on November 25, conveying to them bestwishes from Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

Thevisits were part of the Vietnamese Party leader’s official trip to Laos fromNovember 24 to 26.

Meetingwith former Politburo member, former Prime Minister and former President of theLao Front for National Construction Sasavath Keobounphan and former PrimeMinister Thongsing Thammavong, Nen said the Vietnamese Party, State and peoplehighly value the two senior officials’ role in Laos’ revolution as well as inthe enhancement of the two countries’ solidarity.

Heexpressed his hope that the former leaders will continue contributing to thespecial solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos,adding that the Party, State and people of Vietnam consider intensifyingbilateral relations a strategic task of vital importance to each country’ssecurity and development.

Vietnamwill consistently exert every effort to bolster their traditional friendship,special unity and all-round cooperation in a result-oriented manner, andeducate younger generation on this relationship, he added.

VisitingThongvive Phomvihane, the wife of the late President Kaysone Phomvihane, Nenhighlighted enormous devotions by the late President to the struggle forindependence, freedom and happiness of Laos.

He saidthe late leader was a close friend of the Vietnamese people and he played amajor role in founding and developing the countries’ amity, solidarity andcooperation which are a priceless asset of the two peoples.

TheCommunist Party of Vietnam always keeps in mind Kaysone Phomvihane’s sentimentand devotion and will work with the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party to studythe values of his ideology on the Vietnamese-Lao relationship so as to impartthe importance of these ties to officials, Party members and people in the twocountries, Nen added./.
