Hanoi (VNA) - Politburo member Nguyen Van Binh, head of the Party CentralCommittee’s Economic Commission , hosted a reception for Adam Boehler, CEOof the US International Development Finance Corporation (DFC), in Hanoi on October 26.
Binh said the current visit by a high-ranking delegation from US government agenciesdemonstrates the sense of initiative, proactiveness, and strong commitment ofthe US in promoting the countries’ comprehensive partnership, affirming thatbilateral relations are thriving in a practical manner.
He affirmed that the Party and State always treasure relations with the US andwelcomes US businesses to invest in the country, especially in spheres wherethe US has strengths, such as energy, high-quality infrastructure, medicaldevices, and biotechnology.
He underlined Vietnam’s consistent policy that the country has been exertingefforts to carry out solutions towards balancing trade with the US in a sustainableway.
Vietnam is committed to bolstering relations with the US, and in the tradesector in particular, in a fair and “win-win” manner, as a trusted partner, henoted.
Binh urged the DFC and the Export-Import Bank of the US (EXIM) to further engagein boosting two-way trade and investment, adding that strengthening trust isamong the key factors in fostering the countries’ comprehensive partnership forthe sake of their peoples, thereby contributing to peace, stability,cooperation, and development in the region.
For his part, Boehler affirmed that Vietnam is an important partner of the USin the region.
He emphasised that private investment from the US and the DFC in significantinfrastructure projects in Vietnam will be further bolstered in the time tocome, particularly in energy.
He expressed his hope that Vietnam will continue working with the US on addressingthe latter’s bilateral trade deficit./.
