PM Phuc receives US Development Finance Corporation head

Hanoi (VNA) – At a reception in Hanoi on January8 for visiting first CEO of the US International Development FinanceCorporation (DFC) Adam Boehler, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc highlighted thatthe visit manifests the trust and good will for cooperation with practicalcontributions to the bilateral relations.

The Vietnam – US relations of cooperation are developingvery well in various fields, the Government leader stressed, adding thatVietnam is planning to buy many equipment and products from the US and strivingto pursue a police of balance trade with the US.

The US official conveyed regards from US President DonaldTrump to PM Phuc and noted that Vietnam is making many positive changes. The DFCis very attentive to the Pacific and hopes that the Mekong region will developwell, he said, pledging to increase investment into Vietnam, especially in thefields of energy, health care and infrastructure.

As Vietnam is shouldering the role of the ASEAN Chair thisyear, the DFC hopes to invest in the development of infrastructure in the Mekongcountries, the official said, pledging to help make the US a top investor inVietnam.

PM Phuc spoke highly of the DFC’s efforts and described itsplan to boost cooperation with Vietnam not only in investment as a gooddirection now. Vietnam is ready to closely cooperate with the DFC in buildingan investment programme in Vietnam as well as in other Mekong countries, theleader said.

He also expressed his hope that the DFC will discuss withVietnam’s authorities on priority areas, especially energy and liquefiednatural gas, and support US firms in investing in Vietnam, particularly theMekong delta./.
