Hanoi (VNA) – General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong hosted a reception for Canadian PrimeMinister Justin Trudeau in Hanoi on November 8.
He welcomed the Canadian PM’s official visit toVietnam and considered it as an important milestone in the two countries’relations.
He informed his guest about Vietnam’s reform,development and foreign policies, noting that Vietnam always treasures the traditionalfriendship with Canada.
General Secretary Trong applauded bilateralcooperation over the past years as well as the elevation of their relations toa comprehensive partnership during Trudeau’s trip.
Valuing the outcomes of the talks between PrimeMinisters Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Justin Trudeau, he asked both sides to implementthe reached agreements well and continue enhancing bilateral ties in aresult-oriented manner for the sake of the two peoples and for peace,stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.

For his part, PM Trudeau said he is impressedwith Vietnam’s economic development achievements, particularly in improvingpeople’s living standards. He also spoke highly of the country’s foreign policyof independence, self-reliance, and multilateralisation and diversification offoreign relations.
Canada attaches importance to its connectionswith Vietnam and will remain a good friend of the Southeast Asian nation in achanging world, he said, pledging to strongly step up the two countries’cooperation in economy, science-technology, education, and promotion ofmultilateralism on the basis of respecting law in a globalised world.
He also valued Vietnam’s preparations for andimportant contributions to the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting, which is goingto take place in Da Nang city in the next few days.-VNA
