Hanoi (VNA) – Secretary General ofthe Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Nguyen Phu Trong has laid stress on thespecial importance of the Party Central Committee’s Organisation Commission inbuilding a strong Party.

Addressingthe commission’s conference in Hanoi on January 19, the Party leader said thecommission’s work focuses on the organisation and personnel of the Party, whichis the core of Party building work.

Personnelis the root of everything, General Secretary Trong said.

He asked the commission to proactively prepare contentsfor upcoming meetings of the Party Central Committee, first of all a project onbuilding a contingent of capable and prestigious officials at all levels tosubmit to the Party Central Committee’s 7th plenum. The project mustbe based on the 20-year implementation of the personnel strategy adopted by theeighth Party Central Committee and follow the spirit of standardising the contingentof officials, tightening discipline and promoting reform in order to optimisethe potential, capability and creativity of officials at all levels and in allfields, Trong said.

He told the Partyorganisation sector to gear up for the 13th National Party Congress forthe 2020-2025 tenure and take the initiative in personnel planning for keypositions at different levels, especially at strategic level.

At the same time, the sector should continueimproving procedures and regulations relating to personnel work and management towardsgreater democracy and more transparency, the Party General Secretary said.

He affirmed the need to fight corruption inpersonnel work, as well as negative phenomena such as individualism, groupinterests and factionalism.

At the conference, delegates proposed measuresto address shortcomings and limitations in Party building work, focusing on preventingpower abuse and paying bribe for positions. They urged strengthening inspectionof officials and Party members via press agencies and public opinions.-VNA
