Hanoi (VNA) – Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has directed what to do next after the Party Central Committee (PCC)’s Inspection Commission announced the violations of law committed by Trinh Xuan Thanh – member of the Party Committee of Hau Giang province in the 2011-2016 tenure.

The Party chief’s instructions were published in Dispatch No.1578-CV/VPTW issued by the PCC Office on July 18.

The Party leader requested the PCC’s Organisation Commission, the Standing Board of the Party Committee of the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam) and the group’s senior officials along with the Standing Board of Hau Giang provincial Party Committee, the Ministry of Home Affairs’ Party Committee, and the PCC’s Inspection Commission to clarify the responsibilities of those concerned and meted out punishment on units and individuals involved over the wrongdoings and law violations as announced by the PCC’s Inspection Commission on July 11 this year.

The PCC’s Organisation Commission is to coordinate with the PCC’s Inspection Commission and relevant agencies to review personnel regulations to make prompt correction and adjustments.

The Party Committee of the Ministry of Home Affairs and the PCC’s Commission for Emulation and Rewards are tasked with clarifying the law violation and wrongdoings of concerned units and individuals in the evaluation process and proposal of conferring the Labour Order for two consecutive years (2009 and 2010) and the Labour Hero title to PetroVietnam Construction Joint Stock Corporation in 2011. They are also to decide appropriate punishment for those law violations.

The Standing Board of the Central Public Security Party Committee must direct relevant agencies to investigate the corporation’s losses of nearly 3.3 trillion VND (148.5 million USD) between 2011-2013, as well as handle those involved in illegally licensing public vehicle plates and reclaim those plates.

Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong urged the PCC’s Inspection Commission to carry out the tasks already decided in a transparent and subjective manner without yielding to pressure from any organisation or individual.

The tasks involve launching the process to take disciplinary action toward Trinh Xuan Thanh, who is also Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Hau Giang province; continuing to investigate the wrongdoings at the PetroVietnam Construction Joint Stock Corporation, and inspecting any signs of law violations by the Party Committee of the Ministry of Industry and Trade in the 2010-2015 tenure and by the committee’s former secretary Vu Huy Hoang, who is also a former PCC member.

On July 15, the National Election Council voted not to recognize the National Assembly deputy status of Trinh Xuan Thanh because of his law violations.-VNA
