Hanoi (VNA) – After being temporarily shut down due to landslides in the central province of Quang Binh, local sections of the North-South railway were reopened to traffic on October 17.
More than 1,000 personnel had been mobilised to put the railway between Ngoc Lam and Minh Le stations back to operation within three days.
Trains now are allowed to run at 5km/h through the sections. Repairs are being carried out to soon let the vehicle resume their normal speed.
As of 6:00 pm on October 14, a total of nine landslide sites were discovered in Quang Binh due to extensive rain, paralysing local sections of the North-South railway, according to the Vietnam Railways (VNR).
As a result, trains running through the North-South line in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City were all suspended.-VNA
