Hanoi (VNA) – Close to 290Vietnamese citizens were flown home safely from Malaysia on a flight of nationalflag carrier Vietnam Airlines on November 3, according to the Ministry ofForeign Affairs.
The flight was arranged by Vietnameseauthorities, the Embassy of Vietnam in Malaysia, the airline and relevantagencies of Malaysia.
The passengers included pregnant women, theelderly, the ill, those with underlying health conditions, labourers withexpired contracts and people in extremely difficult circumstances.
The Vietnamese Embassy sent staff to theairport to assist them with boarding procedures.
In-flight safety and preventive measuresagainst the COVID-19 pandemic were rigorously enforced to protect thepassengers’ health and prevent the spread of the disease.
All passengers and crew members receivedmedical check-ups and were sent to quarantine in line with regulations uponarrival at Can Tho International Airport in the Mekong Delta city of the samename.
The repatriation of Vietnamese citizens indisadvantaged circumstances abroad will continue to be conducted in line withcitizens’ wishes, the developments of the COVID-19 pandemic and quarantinecapacity in Vietnam./.
