Hanoi (VNA) – The establishment of the National Cybersecurity Association (NCA) is expected to contribute to turning Vietnam into a safe and cyber secure country.

The Ministry of Home Affairs issued a decision on May 8, 2023, approving the establishment of the National Cybersecurity Association.

Under the decision, the association is a socio-occupational organisation of Vietnamese citizens and organisations operating in cybersecurity, set up on a voluntary basis to protect the legitimate rights and interests of members and ensure cybersecurity in line with the Party and State’s orientations and strategies in the field, contributing to national defence and socio-economic development.

The event saw the participation of nearly 200 delegates who are members of the NCA, including officials from agencies, business representatives, prestigious experts, and scholars in network security area.

The congress adopted the working orientations and agenda for its 2023-2028 tenure and elected an executive committee led by Deputy Minister of Public Security Sen. Lieut. Gen Luong Tam Quang.

In his speech, Lam said the mission and vision of the association should not only target economic profits and protect the interests of its members, but also aim for a higher goal, which is to become the primary driving force of the cause of national construction and defense.

The minister said it should strive to build and develop Vietnam's cybersecurity industry, establish a high-value cybersecurity market on the international map, and create corporations and companies with globally-recognized cybersecurity capabilities.
